BUSHNELL PARK

The park comprises 50 acres of green space, and is visited by over one million people each year. It was conceived by the Reverend Horace Bushnell in the mid-1850s and is the oldest publicly funded park in the United States.

The Sail and Sailors Memorial Arch

The sail and sailors Memorial Arch is the main attraction in Bushnell Park. Designed by Hartford architect George Keller, it is dedicated to the remembrance of the battle of Antietam during the Civil War.
